Old Dogs is scheduled for release Fall 2007 by Simon & Schuster. The book will feature black and white portraits by Michael Williamson and an essay by Gene Weingarten, about old dogs.
Gene Weingarten, 54, writes "Below The Beltway,
a nationally syndicated humor column that originates in The Washington
Post magazine.
This book grew out of a dialogue Weingarten had with readers in a national online chat on the morning of the death of his cantankerous, thickheaded, comical, obstinate, beloved 13-year-old Labrador retriever, Harry S Truman. This book is for Harry.
Michael Williamson, 48, got his big break in
photojournalism 30 years ago when he was hired by a Northern California
newspaper to do the "Dog of the Week" photos at a local animal shelter.
Since then he's traveled the world as a photographer, teacher and
editor.
He was named "Photographer of the Year" by the National Press Photographers Association in 1995, and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1990 and 2000. Williamson is a staff photographer at the Washington Post.
